Plastics
Plastic containers are identified on the bottom with a recycling symbol. The number inside the symbol is the type of plastic. We can accept #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, and #7 plastics.
Examples: (Recycling symbol 1) Water or juice bottles, peanut butter jars, soap bottles. (Recycling symbol 2) Milk jugs, soap bottles.
Where: Alpena Recycling Facility & Recycle Drop Off Sites
How: Rinse out, remove caps, crush if possible.
Not Accepted: Motor oil or antifreeze bottles, foam, plastic bags, bubblewrap and all plastic wrap, garden hoses, furniture wrap, plastic furniture, toys, vinyl siding, USPS, FedEx and UPS plastic bags, and herbicide, pesticide, fertilizer, and weed killer plastic jugs (anything WITHOUT a recycle number on it).
Grocery bags - Please no grocery bags. Both Wal-Mart and Meijer in Alpena accept grocery bags at their front entrance.
