Community Corrections

Mission Statement
The Northeast Michigan Community Corrections Advisory Board (NEMCCAB) supports the fair and equitable treatment of offenders using the least restrictive sentencing option available to the courts, consistent with the individual treatment needs of the offender and with the safety of the general public always being of paramount concern.

How Does Community Corrections Work?
Community Corrections provides local sanctions for moderate to high-risk, non-assaultive offenders in lieu of jail, or to reduce the length of incarceration.  These sanctions include employment, education, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, and community service work.  These services address client specific needs and aid in reducing recidivism.

NEMCCAB Programs per County

The Northeast Michigan Office of Community Corrections provides programming in Alpena, Alcona, Cheboygan, Crawford, and Otsego Counties. The availability of the various programming provided is listed below:

Available in All Counties Served: 5-Day Housing funds for Regional Jails to house individuals with OUIL 3rd conviction while waiting for a Substance Use Assessment and ASAM Level of Care Substance Use Assessments

Alpena: Community and Jail Based Case Management Programming with Interactive Journaling, Community-Based Thinking Matters Group for Men (provided by Sunrise Centre), and Community-Based Seeking Safety Group for Women (provided by Sunrise Centre).

Alcona: Community-Based Case Management Programming with Interactive Journaling.

Cheboygan: Community and Jail Based Case Management Programming with Interactive Journaling, Jail-Based Thinking Matters Group for Men (provided by Harbor Hall), and Jail-Based Seeking Safety Group for Women (provided by Harbor Hall).

Crawford: Community-Based Thinking Matters Group for Men (provided by G.R.A.C.E. Center), and Community-Based Seeking Safety Group for Women (provided by G.R.A.C.E. Center).

Otsego: Pretrial Supervision Services and PRAXIS Risk Assessment
