Recent NEWS about the Iron Belle Trail development in Otsego County:

Otsego County is working on developing the portion of the Iron Belle Trail located south of where the North Central State Trail currently ends at Fairview Road.

The 1.65 mile "Gaylord Gateway Trail" is planned from Grandview Blvd. to Fairview Road. in City of Gaylord.  Estimated cost $732,180.  Construction estimated for 2018. 

The 9.8 miles of the "Otsego County South" portion of the IBT from Grandview Blvd. to Passenheim Rd. in Waters is tentatively planned for construction in 2017. The estimated project cost is $2,340,000.  

The North Central State Trail comprises the completed portion of the Iron Belle Trail in Otsego County, located north of Fairview Road in Gaylord, through the Village of Vanderbilt and into Cheboygan County.   Corwith Township received a $300,000 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant in 2017 to construct a trailhead facility for the NCST/IBT in the Village of Vanderbilt. The trailhead will be located north of Main St., east of Cheboygan St. and south of Garfield St.
