Michigan Works! Helps Howard Get Hired
Howard Hess had worked as a bartender, a combat sports consultant, and a property manager. After moving from job to job in several states, and quitting his last four jobs, Howard found himself homeless.
Several times a week, Howard would come in to the Michigan Works! Alpena office to work with Talent Specialist, Barb Timm, to create his resume and apply to jobs online. Barb provided him with information on WIOA programs and job search assistance.
Around this same time, the Holiday Inn had approached Michigan Works! inquiring about job seeker referrals. Barb shared news of the opportunity with Howard and he applied. He was hired on the spot as a laborer making $10/hr and thanked Barb for the recommendation.
